Is this broken?

I am not sure if my turn signals are broken . . . When you are actually making a real turn they go on and self cancel just like they are supposed to. For lane changes though, there is no intermediate detent that allows you to flick them on so long as you hold the lever against the detent, then let them go off when you release it without ever turning the wheel very far. I have to signal a lane change, andd then manually push the lever the opposite way to cancel the signal. It has been this way since I bought it, Are they all like this? If not, and someone has the part, I would be interested in buying it. Thanks.

I have to manualy turn mine off, but I have an aftermarket steering wheel and I took out the plastic piece that controlled it. I think its normal for you to have to manualy turn of the turn signal when you do a lane change but it should turn off by itself when you make a turn.

Uhh, in all the cars I've drove, for something with as little steering as a lane change, they've all required manual turning off.

is it a 90-91 convertible??? the convertibles with air bags are set up like that.

But if it is a coupe, then probably your wheel position switch or turn signal switch is busted.
