Broken 02 sensor wires
Broken 02 sensor wires
On an S5 TII, can anyone tell me where they go so I can rewire? No connector, it was jury-rigged by previous owner, broken in at least 2 places just as it goes into the loom.
Tried search function..sat and grinded for 10 minutes, then crapped out.
Thanks!

Well, if you still have an exposed wire...just solder it, and eletrical tape/heat wrap the exposed parts. My wire has been broken down to a little nub, so I'm going to solder mine....that is....if my car ever runs again.
If it looks like you have two wires, one of them is the shield (unless you've got an aftermarket wide band or some funky thing going on).
Follow the wire until it goes into its original sheathing, going back towards the sensor. Now play with it until you can figure out which wire is the "outer" shield, then mark it...For the other side, get out your meter and read both ends to ground (resistance), whichever one shows a good ground is the shield, attach that one to the shield you marked on the other side, and splice the remaining two "sender" wires back together. Keep the shield from contacting the sender wire, or your sensor voltages will be screwed. Is that confusing enough for ya?

That's easy enough, but the wire's so brittle from heat, I thought I'd rewire it from the sensor to wherever it ends..hopefully in some plug in the engine bay.
Any idea if it goes to a plug or just straight to the ECU?
