broke off something while installing vacuum hose?
i was putting in new blue vacuum hoses under the hood tonight since i had nothing else to do. and one of the hoses got stuck, so i torqed down on it and ended up pulling the plastic nipple off the end of this thing so i have no way to reconnect it! i was trying to find out what this part is in the service manual, but i'm not quite sure. i'm pretty sure it was on a solenoid valve. i started and moved the car with the hose disconnected and it ran okay, no check engine light or anything. how big of a deal is that hose? what is it's purpose? anyone have a replacement or will i have to go to the dealership? I'll try to get pictures of the part when i get home.
well we definatley need to know a good description the location of the part and if it is a TII or an N/a. What does the thing look like? what general area of the engine bay is it in?
it's a N/A. they are on the right hand side of the engine, more toward the front of the car. there is like two or three of these things side by side and at least two vacuum hoses going and coming from each.
those are solenoids and most likely something on you car is not working now. It you look at the plug on the one you broke it should be color coded. I forget which colrs are which but someone here knows. You will need to get a new one; and you won't wanna pay the dealer price. Just go to a junk yard and find one from and similar model. The nipples on those suckers are very brittle and need to dealt with carefully. Try just cutting the hoses off and pulling it out of the junker then once you have it on a table you can cut the rest off with a razor.
or he could gut his cats, get rid of all the emmisions crap, and remove the rats nest all together.
Throw those little noids out the window. I vant to do this but don have time. To many women. BANG BANG BANG
lol

it is a little complicated. But from what I understand those noids are part of the rats nest and are all one unit meaning they are not separate from one another. To remove the rats nest you have to get new fuel lines that are longer and you can block off the EGR valve. Well I shoule not be the one explaining this to you I am still a noob here. I will try to find you a link for that.

This thread is in the archives and is the one that I am going to use as a guid for my removal. But I am not sure of how long it will take so I am doing this along with a lot of other stuff in the summer.

If it was one of the two top solenoids (brown & white)- they control the aux ports & VDI.
You will loose mid & high rev power.
You like mid & high end power - right?
Same thing happened to me. I got some used ones at a salvage yard.
Handiest tool in the box- long nose pliers with bent tips for working with hoses..

thanks guys! yeah from now on i think i'll just slice the tubes with a knife and pull them off. i'll try to post a thread in the parts wanted section as soon as i look and see what color solenoid i broke.
maybe. but if you have to pass them you are srewed proly unless you fix that thing you broke. I still recommend removing the rats nest. I want to do that but don't have time too many women. BANG BANG BANG
well since you would be taking the stuff out of the car you don't have to worry about braking the other noids. Taking off the UIM is not even hard. The firt time I did it I took about a half hour
