Exclamation Broke my rear iron

Hello all... It has been a while... I left because my 7 has been in the garage getting a transmission transplant and it took forever for me to find the time or just stop being lazy enough to get around to it... Just when I thought it was about to be done, I broke the rear iron while tightening the bolt on the top drivers side of my transmission...

Is it safe to drive with this bolt not in place?

I am considering trying to sell this car and get a 3rd gen but I dont want to sell something that is going to break or could cause harm to someone... Worst case scenerio, I will part it out...

I would appreciate oppinions from someone who may have had experience in this area or that knows what they are talking about... Again, I am not looking to cause harm to anyone...

89 N/A...

Thank you,
Randal

On my Turbo II, for some reason the bolt I think you are referring to (not the stud at the top but next to it, closer to the driver's side) was missing for over a year (probably 6k miles) and I didn't know it. It didn't seem to make a difference. That doesn't mean it is a "good idea" to run without it, but you could probably get away with it. Especially if you don't drag race the car.

One missing bolt won't be a big deal. As long as the iron is not broken to the point where it will crack badly down the road, it's probably fine. I've seen a lot of cars with various transmission bolt ears broken off.

Here is a picture... Unfortunately it is in a tight spot for a camera... I traced the break where you cant see it to give an idea of severity and I put an arrow where the break starts... Thanks to all of you for the help...
