Malfunctioning TPS. Try driving with the TPS unplugged and let us know if it makes a difference.

I fail to see what the interior has to do with the idle.

N/A or TII?

N/A is easy to spot. TII you have to remove the TMIC.

I have this same problem..but only occasionally. Maybe 1 out of every 10 times i start the car it does this..for maybe 2-3 seconds. I'll fiddle with the tps more later though...no time now (school sucks).

Btw, if the car is driven with the tps unplugged...what should happen? A little more theory behind why certain things happen the way they do would be appreciated...that way i can form my own conclusions and u know..be like u incredibly smart rx-7 people

the reason for idle is that if no seats, ac, instrument cluster, dash, etc... only thing I can do is idle in the garage its not really driveable the way it is right now

I'm not incredibly smart. RETed and NZConvertable own me!

Amur_ had a thread recently on exactly what you described.. I believe the new (correct) TPS solved his problem.

I would have thought the car would stall with no TPS signal, but apparently it keeps in ticking. But you get a crappy throttle response when you open it up from idle.

*starts looking for Amur_'s thread..*

The only GOOD way is a nice bridgeport.
All the extra fuel/air makes it REALLY lumpy. Like a stroked V8 with a cam.
