Braking systems between 86-91

I was jus wondering if the braking systems on the fc's are abs, and if the brake master cylinders are alike to be able to interchange.. I have an 87 TII, and the car I'm going to pull it of is jus an n/a.... will it work..... if my internet was fast on my sidekick I would search but it takes to long.... any information wouls be appreciated, thank you!

Some had ABS. It wasn't particularly good though.

The master cylinder may be different, but it should still have the power to do it - otherwise there'd be a lot of people out there in a world of trouble because they switched to TII calipers on an NA master and booster pump. Me included.

The only thing I'd be worried about is the bolt pattern - if you're already there, I'd take the gamble but tell the guy that you're not sure if it'll work. Around here they'll mark the part when you leave so you can return it if it doesn't fit. (They mark it so they know you're not returning your defective part)

Ok, thanks. So abs was an option I'm guessing? When I first got the car I could brake perfectly fine, the pedal didn't depress all the way down, over time it statred going down further and further, I'm going to bleed them first before I go and buy another master cylinder....

Thanks for the help

You can get rebuilt shiny powdercoated master cylinders with a warranty for about $40 from most local parts stores, just be careful changing the reservoir, or you'll get the added bonus of trying to find a new plastic reservoir when the legs break off like I did.

There is a difference between some of them in the S4 lineup. Some of them have a big hole in the bottom for some sensor/fitting that is absent on others. I can't find a rhyme or reason to which models tho. I've worked on 3 equally optioned 88 GXLs in my lifetime, and only one of them had the sensor but all of them were supposed to have it (i think it had something to do with AAS, since none of the cars had ABS) according to the dealer.

I've never been able to compare the way the brakes feel in a stock TII - but I didn't notice a difference in feel going to the TII calipers on my NA. I always wondered why it mattered whether you had the stock suspension or sport suspension though in terms of brake equipment because they always ask. My brake lines don't connect to my struts, I'm fairly positive.

edit: Aha. That answered it ^

The TII master and booster are different than the NA, I don't know if they're different between the series though.
