I was going to run RBF600 in my clutch......

Then my wallet slapped me upside the head.

Has anyone ever used both the Hawk HPS and Porterfield R4-S pads and can compare between them and where can you order them from? Anyone know where I can order the Brembo brake rotors for cheap? Where can I order the Ford HD brake fluid? Where can I order the Speed Bleeders from and what sizes do I need for the brakes and clutch? Obviously I will order the Mazdatrix SS braided lines from Mazdatrix.com.

I noticed recently that Black Dragon offers a SS brake line kit for the FC for $120 which is also DOT-approved. Does anyone have any experience with it? I guess it really isn't any cheaper than the Mazdatrix or Corksport sets though, so I'd probably still opt for one of those.

The fluid can be obtained from any Ford dealer.

Bleeder sizes...
-front is 8mm x 1
-rear is 7mm x 1

If you buy it from a Ford dealer it'll be 500 degree, you need to find it at an auto parts store. Prestone sells the 550 stuff.

Thanks for the sizes. I'll go to the Ford dealership and see if they can get the 550 degree stuff, otherwise I'll have to look elsewhere. Now I just need to find where to order the Brembo blank rotors and Hawk HPS or Porterfield RS-4 pads.

Methinks that the "King" would be wasted in this application.

IceWolf's keyboard is getting hotter creating all these "upgrade" threads than his brakes ever will.

Well, I know I'm bumping this thread, but I have a couple last questions. First of all, how did you guys go about painting your brake calipers? I would love the paint them red and paint the Mazda logo white. Next, I know that you are supposed to grease a certain part on the brakes to keep them for squeeking, which part is it? And lastly, do you use antiseize or thread sealer on the bleeder screws?

Use special brake caliper lube on the slider pins on the rears, and there's some special brake quiet goo that you can put on the backs of the pads to help quiet them (supposedly). Using normal pads with the proper shims you shouldn't get noise issues.

The speedbleeders that I've gotten already have a sealant on the threads.

If you're using stock bleeders, a bit of antiseize (on the threads only) wouldn't hurt, I suppose.

Yea, I figured with new pads and rotors I shouldn't get any noise, but I figured I could put the stuff on anyways just to make sure. Where can I buy the brake quiet stuff and the caliper lube for the pins? Good to hear the Speed Bleeders come with sealant on them when you buy them. Guess I won't need to get any then for those.

Auto parts stores should have both lubes in small tubes somewhere. The bleeders don't really seal with the threads.

I use antiseize on the calipers slides and bleeders, never had an issue. Calipers work great, except for my rear drivers that pisses out brake fluid.......Next pay check.

Anyone else seem to have an issue with the rear single piston calipers leaking at the E-brake assy grommets? This would be the 3rd caliper that this has happend on in the past 6 years of owning the car. Always the rear.

I run Hawk HPS (front & rear) and they make no noise at all.
Installed about five months ago, they show no unusual wear on the rotors (which were also new at the time) and brake dust has been minimal.

My car is just a NA daily driver so it doesn't see heavy brake usage anyway but the Hawks have been fine.

I will be installing Hawk HPS pads as well. I have never used them but within a month or so I will have them. Have to change out my rotors to blanks first.

I'll be running Porterfield's in my other RX-7 in a little bit, I currently have Hawk HPS in my GTUs and it serves me well as an autocross/street pad. The braking feel is nice, and I haven't noticed any squeaking yet. I'll let you guys know my observations between the two.

For reference the tire/pad combo on each:

GTUs: Bridgestone Potenza RE-01R with Hawk HPS
Coupe: Yokohama Advan Neova AD07 with Porterfield R4-S

Wow, someone likes expensive tires...

I've got pricy tires, but I got them at about half price because they were take-off's with about 20km's on them (Bridgestone RE-070's from an STi bought in the winter).
