Brakes and Shifter
Hey all, I have an 88 GXL with a couple of problems. Any input would be greatly appreciated!
1) Rear brake calipers -
They seem to be locked up. The car wasn't driven much for 2 years and now I think that there may have been some air/ moisture in the brake lines. Unfortunately, the pads were on their last leg so the calipers were almost fully extended. I am thinking of just carefully clamping the brake line, removing the calipers and rebuilding them. Is this difficult? Any special tools required?
2) Shift -
I think that the bushings (upper and lower) need replacing because first of all its all rot under the boot, and second, the shift doesnt return to center from the 1-2 gear side.
Did I diagnose these problems correctly?
Does any one have some words of wisdom for me before I rip my back brakes apart?
The car isnt raced, I am just trying to return it to stock running condition at this point.
Thanks!

The rear calipers are strange, they don't just push in, you have to screw them back in. You can use some needle noze pliers to turn them by putting the tips in the slots on the piston face and turn clockwise. If the pistons look rusty then maybe sand them off a bit and smooth them out before trying to screw the pistons back in.
