Brakes bad?
Brakes bad?
I drive an 1988 Convertible RX-7.
Recently my emergency brake indicator has been coming on while I drive the car. Then just the other day I noticed that I hear this slight screaching noise (thats the best description I can come up with) from the back when I use the brakes, and sometimes when I'm just driving.
I'm pretty much assuming that my rear brake pads and possibly rotors are bad and need to be replaced, but would like someone else to confirm this.
Also, perhaps, recommend some good aftermarket replacements for the rotors and pads and where to get them?

look here http://www.rx7store.net. dont go cheap with brakes thats all i gotta say but if u find a good pair for like 100-200$ grab em. i went kinda cheap with mine n i wish i didnt.
first thing to do when the brake light comeonis to checkthebrake fluid.
since the rear is screeching you should change the pads. Sometimes, you can really extend the pistons in the rear calipers, and brake fluid can leak past the seals.

Yeah, that would make sense, considering it only seemed to come on if I took a corner hard, and would go off about 1 to 5 minutes later. I'll have to check that. And get new brakes for it. I'll probably just spend the time and money and get pads and some nice brembo rotors from rx7store.net.
Thanks for the help guys!

a blank rotor from any autopart store is better then crossdrilled rotors, and offer same performance (street wise) and cheaper then slotted rotors.
For good street brakes pads, you can get a set of hawks hps pads.

Well, I changed the brakes, only to find the passenger rear caliper seized, so now I have to go and get a new caliper. What would be the best place to go and get one of those? At this point I really don't care to spend much more than $100 or so.
