How are you using the car? Daily driver with some autocross, etc? The stock rotors will serve you well. No reason to spend any more than that. The DOT 4 has a higher temp rating. You probably don't need anything more than 3.

go to www.mazdamotorsports.com you can get the hawk pads for $50 front, $35 rear. and they have new SS lines for $60!. I'm getting them all soon. as for fluid DOT 4 is good. 5.1 is the best. DO NOT USE DOT 5!

If I remember correctly, the reason you don't want dot5 is becuase it doesn't absorb water like dot3 and 4. But wait you say, absorbing water is bad! That's true, but it's better that the water get absorbed than to have seperate water and fluid in your system, because that water will probably boil and then you're fuxored.

DOT5 brake fluid is silicon based and is the best performing brake fluid you can buy, not boiling until very high temps are reached. But the silicon absolutely murders all the rubber seals in calipers. So it's only suitable for race cars with regularly rebuilt calipers, not for road cars.

it's because you can NOT mix 5.1 with dot 3,4, or 5. so the system has to be compleatly fushed clean of the others which is impossible to do. which means in order to use 5.1 you need new calipers, brake cylinder, all lines, and ABS pump if you have it. if you mix them your brake system will be ruined and will stop working (very dangerous!!) and everything above will have to be replaced.

i heard DOT5 are pretty expensive and aren't really worth it...
and yeah it's better u flush the whole system b4 using DOT 5

i guess just using DOT 3 would be cool, mazda recommended using DOT 3 for our car, DOT3 also absorb water also, so this design was to prevent corrosion and etc...
