Brake upgrade for '91?

I've searched myself out. I'm looking for a full brake upgrade for a '91. Lines, calipers, mastercylinder, and rotors(slotted only). I've yet to find any form of "kit". Is there one out there? If so, plz direct me.

Thx,
Rabbit

most kits are only for the front, and they include calipers, rotors, lines, ect. i did run into a big brake kit for the rear end made by FEED once though. but anything like that u should expect to pay close to 2-3 grand ... aftermarket brakes are a killer, u should just stick with stock units. or u can always build ur own setup getting things seperate (well things like rotors, pads, lines)

Thanx for the info. I've been making a list of individual parts. So far, I've come up with rotors, lines, and pads. Unfortunately, I think, I'm going to have to stick with the stock calipers. If you have any suggestions, all are appreciated.

Thanks,
Rabbit

you can run your own brake lines, just get a bunch of six foot lines from napa or something and run them in place of the old stock ones
borrow a flare tool from someone, and get the compression fittings for it and you should be straight...good luck with the project

Thread edited. I fixed the subject line. Things like "Help Brakes!" don't really do much. Please be specific as people are more likely to answer your question...

not to mention if you have the 4 piston brakes will definatly hold you over unless your running some serious horsepower. just a good set of pads and rotors , and if you want it to be pretty , the ss brake lines.

just b gald that our cars came with good brakes. 4 pots on the back would b nice but they arent needed, just get some good rotors, pads, and some ss lines. thats all im planning on doing. if u really dont like the look of stock calipers, paint them to match your car color

Unless this is a race car, the stock calipers and master cylinder are more than adequate. Good pads, good fluid and SS lines (which are not just to look pretty ) will give a very noticable improvement over stock. Something I don't see very often in the US is a master cylinder brace, which prevents firewall flex during hard braking. This improves brake feel in the same way SS lines do.

If you want to get all four rotors, pads, and lines replaced, go to www.rx7.com and get the Bonez brake upgrade.

Doesn't www.aerodyne.net have something like that?

I say just rebuild your stock calipers, get some Porterfield or Hawk pads, SS lines and some slotted, drilled, or both rotors.

They bolt to the strut tower, positioned and adjusted so as to prevent forward movement of the master cylinder.

There are various different types, but they all achieve the same thing. They can cost quite a bit to buy considering how simple they are, but if you can cut and weld metal (or know someone who can) it wouldn't be too hard to make one.
