Brake time, hawks or stock

Hey guys, its time for brakes for me. I am going to get new rotors, new caliper, new lines and new pads. I am leaning toward the Hawk HPS pads over the stock ones. What do you guys think of this decision. Which one is more quiet, last longer and dust more?

I am looking for pads that are quiet, dont dust long

Thanks

The Hawk HPs pads cost about the same as the OEM ones from the dealer. Tirerack has them from $40-$45 ea, depending on your model. Easy decision.

Hawk HPS pads friggin' rock. They are ultra grippy.

Pros - Ultra grippy, allow you to lock up tires at any time if you WANT to. Great pedal modulation, makes threshhold braking easier.

Cons - Squeeky, and VERY dusty.

HPS are quiet and low dust - perfect street pads, and WAY better than stock. HP+ are noisy and dusty, but are awesome at the track.

I highly suggest getting HPS's from www.splparts.com - that's where I got mine from. They don't list them, but will order them for you, and have great prices and service. I also got my stainless lines from them.

Hawk HPS all the way. There is no downside to them, they are perfect for street use and do not cost a whole lot.

definetly go HPS. a fair amount prippier than the oem pads with none of the downsides of the more aggressive or "race" pads. cheaper too. i have them on front and rear and i love em.

I love my HPS's. Resurfaced the rotors when I put them on and have had no squeeking. They dust a pretty good amount, but the grip makes it all worth it.

I used the HAWK HPS and they're great at Auto-x and road courses. They still hold up great after the 3 road course events. At each road course event I did over 20 laps and there were two corners where I had to threshold brake. One corner i had to slow down from 90mph to about 30mph the other corner I go from 65mph to about 20mph, imagine doin that for 20+laps,plus I did it on 3 different occasions within a 3 month time span. So yeah they held up fine i love um.

Not to mention the auto-x events i did, but i didn't really use the brakes all that much during the auto-x events anyways, cuz i wasn't goin that fast to begin with.

So in all they are great, I think I should start checkin the pads tho after all that racing, but I been lazy. As far as drag racing goes, stock should be fine unless you're running some crazy amount of horsepower

Hey guys are Stock OEM pads really that much worse than Hawk HPS?
I need pads like tomorrow and all i can find are the OEM ones.
All i do is street drive. No racing or autocross... Will i really notice that big of a difference?

Yes, it's that big of a difference. At least put them on the front. OEM is ok for the back, as they don't do much work. Imagine when you have to panic stop...a couple feet shorter stopping distance can mean the difference between totalling your ride or not. WORTH IT!

they may be slightly more dusty than oem...but they aren't bad.

my rears squeak a tiny bit...but that might be because i threw out the anti-squeal plates....besides that no problems with the squeaky.

if you need them now, you need them now. the oem pads aren't bad. you most likely won't get to a point where it makes that much difference.

Your brakes don't stop the car, your tires do. Better pads won't help stopping distances.

Um... the initial bite of the pads makes a world of difference. Go drive a Cadillac CTS-V and then go drive a regular CTS with CTS-V size wheels/tires on it and tell me the V won't stop better.
