Unhappy Brake Problem! HELP!

I took the front right wheel off today and took a look at my calipers. There's brake fluid on the right pad and I think it's the boot. Brake fluid is really low, but the brakes still feel somewhat firm. Brake wont compress though. Checked for leaks along the brake hose but no leaks there. Should I get a brake rebuild kit or take it in to have it fixed. How much is it going each route. New rotors but how can I drive fast without working brakes!?

It sounds like brake fluid is leaking past the brake piston - the brake caliper needs to be rebuild.&nbsp This is not a good situation to be in.&nbsp Rebuild kits are cheap, but I'd recommend getting a rebuilt unit from the local auto parts stores for a reasonable price - you'd need to typically give your original unit them to recover the "core charge".

It's a lot easier to swap calipers than to try and rebuild them.

These guys are asking about changing their trans and diff fluid.&nbsp I would think that's a lot easier than rebuilding a caliper!

My rule #1 - Never assume people have intelligence!

Most of the time, brake calipers have problems with corrision in the bores or the brake piston sticks inside.&nbsp It's a lot easier just to swap the whole caliper!
