Brake MC/Booster Seal

Hey guys,

Looks like I need to replace my MC so I pulled it and ordered a new one.

I didnt notice a substantial seal between the MC and booster but by the nature of how they work I would imagine they need to create a seal so that the booster doesnt create a vacum leak and so that it actually works to assist brake power.

I ordered a new MC and I wanted to replace the seal (if there is one) between them but cant find this seal for sale anywhere

I am hoping I am just missing something. Again I am just going on a hunch that I need this without actually knowing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated I need this car running again for the weekend so I need to order parts today at the latest more than likely.

Thanks

Think of the booster as a giant Diaphragm.
You press on the brake pedal and the Other side, the master to master side,of the Booster pushes a Pin,that in turn pushes on the Master brake cylinder's Main plunger to give the Brakes Juice.
IF you happened to see Brake fluid between the Master and the Booster,it would indicate that the master brake cylinder is shot, and needs either to be replaced or rebuilt.
I have done a master replacement when it was leaking and the booster is just fine..I didn't replace the booster.
OH..IF the booster seal looks like poop though(due to Excessive Brake fluid eating at it) then I would look at getting another one.
I'd just Go used If ya wanna save some coin.

That seal/gasket has nothing to do with the operation of the booster, it'll work just fine without it.
The main purpose is to keep dirt/moisture out.

these cars do not have a seal like that. i think some cars do have one, but the mazda's seal is actually in the booster itself, so it usually doesn't get brake fluid on it, and doesn't need to be changed.

I am about to change my master cylinder (if it ever gets here....) and was wondering exactly the same thing. Every car I have changed one on before had a seal that sat between the booster and master cylinder to prevent vacuum leaks in the booster. Good to know there isn't one to worry about on the rx7

Some setups have a thin "paper" gasket between the MC flange and the booster face, some have an o-ring on the snout of the MC...in neither case is there any vacuum between the booster and the MC.
