Brake line fittings - should the caliper accept Standard ones?
I blew out a brake line this past Saturday during a G-tech run (not fun. ) So I'm trying to gather replacement lines to replace everything from the master cylinder back to the rear brakes. This is my first time tackling the lines like this. And I ran into a puzzle.
I'm using 3/16" brake lines. I went out looking for pre-made lines with metric/Japanese fittings and inverted flares.
I find a store that has all of the above. So while I'm there I ask the girl to try screwing one of the fittings into a reman'ed caliper to make sure that it's the right one.
The metric fittings wouldn't go more than one thread into the caliper. The Standard fittings, however, went right in.
Can someone tell me what's up?

That occured to me, but then how could someone hope to connect it to stock lines? Perhaps the reman'ed unit that she tried to thread the fitting into was defective (b/c of the threading.)
I need more info to clear up what happened at the store, so I posted here.
