Brake- hard pipe from soft line-caliper

Brake- hard pipe from soft line-caliper

Seems more specific to the heavy duty braking package, has anyone replaced the small section of hard pipe with a soft line?
Wonder if the regular braking package soft hose would take its place?

the hoses differ.
The 4 lug flex line "can be used" but you have to make sure it doesn't bottom out in the caliper and stay loose.It has more threads.
Now the Flex line on the 5 lug 4 piston front caliper uses that small steel line and it converts to the caliper.
Long hard line with male end to female flex..female flex to small steel line with male end to male end into caliper.

When I did my 4 piston 4 lug upgrade, I just connected the soft line directly to the caliper. Honestly I didn't even think of the small hard pipe. It's been fine for, oh, 5 or so years now.

The 4 lug had a longer soft line, if you notice when you buy a stainless line kit it specifies which vehicle.
So I knew the standard brakes were longer, but according to myster the threads are longer as well.
Do you remember how you're lines sealed to the 4 piston caliper? Did you double up washers ?
The hardlines are still sold new, like $10 each, might be over thinking this whole thing.

2 ways to do this..actually another but I think these 2 are ok.
get a small metric line at a parts store instead of a dealer.Bend to suit.
Or use 2 crush washers in between the caliper and flex hose.

The "other" is shaving the end of the flex hose so that it will sit/tighten in the caliper.

And Like Aaron Cake I used the 4 lug flex line on the front too..
Come to think of it, it is still on after all these years!Everything else has changed around it..lol

I replaced the flex line at the same time with braided stainless. I'm not sure which lines I used but I suspect they were 4 lug lines. Maybe these picture help:

Project Tina, August 6th: Fan Controller, Brakes, Suspension and Interior

Those lines sealed fine on the internal flair in the caliper as they have a matching flair. As I recall, they didn't thread in all the way. There were a few threads visible.

Ya,Aaron.
I recall the extra threads and that is why I just used an extra crush washer.
At the time I didn't test the setup.I just went ahead and added the washer.
It is still doing ok.

Didn't do my swap yet, but I got the hard lines. Well worth the money not screwing around bending lines, adding threaded ends and flaring.
