Brake dust shields.Same size on 4 and 5 lug??
I am getting a GX with the 4 lug setup and of course converting it to 5 lug setup,4 pot front calipers..etc.
Now I did this swap before but that was 7 years ago!
Can I swap the Front and rear dust shields for the brakes?..Will the 4 lug shields fit the 5 lug setup?.( I think I may be missing front dust shields on the 5 lug spindles.)
Thanks Gents.STYX.

they are mainly to keep road water off the rotors in wet conditions, wet rotors give almost no braking.
for the dust shields i do not believe they are the same but i also am not 100% sure. considering the rotors and calipers are different as well as hubs i would have to say no.

I was going to PM you about this Ben,but I know you would see this eventually.
Thanks for replying.
I will just let the thread play out,as I still have to get the car to the house...Car in one spot, parts in another!

I checked the parts fiche and came up with the following for S4s:
Rear
FB01-26-261B - This is evidently for either side and any model.
Front
FB01-33-260B Coupe, Normal or Hard Suspension, w/ or w/out ABS, Right Side
FB05-33-260B Convertible, Normal Suspension, Right Side
FB01-33-270B Coupe, Normal or Hard Suspension, w/ or w/out ABS, Left Side
FB05-33-270B Convertible, Normal Suspension, Left Side
Rears definitely interchange and the front do too. I have no idea why there is a different part number for convertibles. They have the same brakes as TIIs.

ohhhh!..I like this info!
Thanks guys!.That makes things easier!
Oh SHOOT!..I just remembered. The rear shield may need to be split to remove/put back on, because of the bearing assembly.I think I encountered that.It sits behind the bearing assembly and there is no way to take it off unless you cut a slit in it.(no problem though,I can do it).

benefit bikes have is when going through deep water the tires push the water away from the brakes and bike, cars have 4 wheels where one wheel will push water onto the other 2 wheels on the opposite side.

[QUOTE=joeylyrech;11292368]They are not the same!I have a 4 lug nut 4 pot caliper 5 lug rotor hybrid and i had 2 install the brake dust shields from a 5 lug cause the 5 lug rotor is bigger and it was hitting the 4 lug shield.....Aaron cake has a similar setup and had 2 trim his shields 2 clear the rotors!

Mind you, even though the Part #'s are the same,I bent the shield back a bit as I heard a scratch or 2 when rotating the assembly, but it was a simple "adjustment"(tap, tap) and the outcome was GOOD.It covers the rotor well.
