brake conversion setups

Hey Guys-

In the process of setting my car up for track days I've concerted my s4na to t2 brakes. One of the things that upset me about the process is that I have all the parts to run the fd brakes except the calipers don't bolt on properly over the fd rotors. If you recall, corksport sells the FD rear rotor conversion as a brake kit, and RETed found front mounting brackets on Yahoo!Japan classifieds to convert the front to the FD rotor. So this got me thinking. Why don't we just get somebody that knows CAD/CAM spec these things up and the whole community can simply go out and get their own FD rotors and buy the stupid adapter plates. There's nothing to it really except doing it.
So yesterday I ran into my friend who is a cad/cam expert. I'm probably going to make myself a set and was wondering who else would be interested in something like this? Furthermore, I was thinking while we are on the subject, what other brake calipers and rotors could make a good combination for the FC. I know that some people in Japan bolt make kits to bolt on the 300ZX TT setup. The front calipers are slightly bigger and beefier, yet still aluminum, and offer more surface area on the brake pads. The rear calipers are 2-piston and also aluminum (I believe) but this would probably introduce parking brake issues. I don't care about this per se, but there may be a solution to this as well using some type of adapter plate.
What about the EVO setup that we saw recently? I know the guy just drilled stuff out, trimmed down the rotor, and used spacers, but maybe an adapter plate
for these in the front (and maybe the rear) would be a worthwhile endeavor. Please chime in here because I have a set of front/rear 5-lug hubs and a friend that works at the local autozone who will let me return stuff I "buy" just for the purpose of measuring and fitting.

Please don't post any comments if you think this is a waste of time. I don't want to hear it, nor does anyone else who is going to respond to this post.

The FD front calipers are exactly the same as the TII calipers, and the rotors are only something like 1/4" larger diameter.

But I'm not sure what you are asking.

Do you want to make adapters for 300ZX brakes?
Or FD rear calipers?
Or EVO front brakes?
EVO rear brakes?

Your post is kind of all over the place.

There you go. It also explains some of why people don't just make stuff and sell it personally, as there's liability issues.

The FD brakes aren't really bigger enough to warrant the effort IMHO.

Besides, do you REALLY need big brakes. Almost every racing FC out there uses stock brakes, and they're more than adaquate unless you're running big power and big slicks, just make sure you've got good pads and fluid and you'll do fine.

Aaron Cake - Good point. I was scatter brained on the post because I'm not sure what direction to go towards. Any suggestions? EVO seems like the best direction. I have a funny feeling that the brake booster / master cylinder bolt to the FC firewall. Thats not directly relevant to these adapters though, fwiw.

Black91n/a - I see your point about liability. Maybe I'd need people to sign a waiver, or as you suggested maybe its not worth pursuing this. Whether I really need them, I can't say that for sure but I know if some adapters were available for a reasonable price, I probably would have went for the upgrades while I was in there switching to T2 brakes. I just think a lot of people would be interested in them, thats all. What do you think?

FD brakes, or anything bigger, pretty much will completely disallow the use of 15" wheels, which are ideal for NA FC's for track duty. They'll be lighter, they'll allow you to run smaller tires for better acceleration, braking and handling and are cheaper. I honestly believe that anything wider than a 225/50/15 or a 225/45/15 will be slower due to the increased rolling resistance and increased weight (nevermind that there's not really anything wider without going taller, save for slicks and 275/35/15 Hoosiers).

That's just the wheels, bigger brakes themseleves will be heavier (unless maybe you use 2 piece rotors, $$$$), making the handling and acceleration suffer, and unless the bias is the same as stock, very close to it, or its corrected with a brake bias adjuster, then you'll have worse braking performance.

Honestly, it's not needed 99.99% of the time, and at least 90% of the users of big brakes don't need them.
