i was wondering which BOV makes the fluttering type of noise, kind of like pressure serge. im kinda getting tired of my HKS , i was thinking it might be the blitz bov that makes the noise? and which would be more reliable?

 

That fluttering is compressor surge (not a BOV) which is bad for the turbo. I think it's caused by a BOV spring that so tight that it won't activate at lower boost levels.

While it may get you some 'JDM Tyte' points, it is indeed a bad thing.

 

well i didnt think you would get compressor surge with a bov especially an upgraded one, they are ment to stop compressor surge just wouldnt make any sense to have one if its just gonna do it anyways

 

i'm telling you guys, it's not compressor surge, that is a real bov sound. i've seen one in action on a 2nd gen eclipse around here, and it is damn cool...

I have a Sard R2D2 and it's a dual drive BOV. At release from light to medium throttle, it lets out the excess air in pulses to keep a tiny bit of pressure in the charge pipes for a little better response. At release from WOT, it is just a full discharge. Maybe that is what you're talking about. Also the blitz DD is the same way.

 

I think the noise is the same one that they used for Tokyo Xtreme Racer 2 (or Zero, for PS2 owners). It's the most expensive blow-off valve in the game. If anyone is interested, I can try to record the sound off of my TV.

 

I have heard people with 2 BOV's and they do that, almost sounds like a "shudder"

i was talking about micheal eams' supra at the first race, the gold one with greddy plastered all over it. i can't remember what the eclipse sounded like...guess i didn't pay attention to it very much
