BOV leaking.. or something else????
Alright.. I nstalled my K&N filter on the front of my MAF and now, of course i can hear the BOV wooshing and all that happy crap.... problem is... sometime i hear this damn hissing like a steam engine as the boost builds and when this happens, the boost tops out about a pound lower..
obviously, I blamed the BOV.. got some silicone hose zip tied it from the manifold to the BOV in case it was a leak... Nope still does it sometimes.. usually when you ease on the gas and boost starts to build slower. If you mash it, it tends to do it less often and the boost goes higher..
Tried a third gen BOV, same results...
OK... wassap with this... do i need a different BOV now that I put the K&N on (BOV still exhausts in the stock position in the TID behind the MAF), I'm plannin on getting one anyway, but if thats not my problem i'd like to know now.... and what BOV's are good on am engine with a MAF???

Nah.. don't think its that.. this is definately an air "Escaping" sound, not the cool whirr of the turbo spoolin up.
it sounds like an extended blow off event until you let off the gas and then its truncated as the boost is dissapated as the BOV opens up.

have a friend put their hand in front of the BOV and rev up the engine a few times. then ask them if any air was comging out. (Not covering the hole, just in front of it).
