BOV installed now backfiring

ok so i just installed this new Greddy BOV (type S i believe, its purple) that i purcahsed from here and at first the spring was so loose the car wouldnt boost at all....i tightened it down and it boosts about the same as it did before however the car has started to backfire....
it seems to happen like after i shift into say 2nd or 3rd and then continue at a constant speed as opposed to accelerating.....ill just hear a loud "pop pop"

what could be the cause of this???

also how do i know when ive properly adjusted the spring on the BOV??

are these two problems related??

Lemme guess, you have it set up to vent to open air? if so, you run super ritch, because that air has already been metered. to stop this vent the BOV back into your intake after the MAF

the wonders of a stock ECU and a BOV !!!
only 2 ways to fix it..circulate the air coming from the BOV back into the pipe or get a standalone

Just curious, how come you install the BOV if it causes problem? I thought Blow off valve is supposed to be an addtional safety feature for turbo application. Any thought?

It only causes a problem because you are letting metered air (air that has gone through the AFM) out into the atmosphere. But since it went through the AFM the ECU still injects fuel for that air, hence the rich condition when the BOV vents.

still cant find a kit to adapt the BOV so i can route it back into the intake....

would it work to just leave that hole on the TID where the stock BOV was connected open and let it draw air on its own?? or would it just run shitty cuz it would be like a vacum leak?

there would be absolutely no point having a BOV if you recirculate it, you should have just saved your money and stuck with the stock BOV or just live with the backfiring between shifts.

i was think about getting a new bov aswell, but was afraid that my car would do the same.

Turbo smart makes a bov that kinda helps this problem.

( its the last one )

That way u can keep the car happy and still shoot sweet flames when u want to/ get cool sounds when u want to.
