You need a turbo for a BOV...

If you do have an auto TII, it'll work as soon as you boost and let off.

While you're at it, replace the piston rings and cams... then you'll get a nice lobe at idle and have better compression...

sorry, i feel a little better now, unless you have a 20B with the auto tranny still attached in your car, you either dont have an auto, or you dont have a turbo. If you dont have a turbo, then you cant have a real blow-off valve. Do you even know the purpose of this part?

My friend's jspec 13BT motor came with an auto tranny still attached, so yes they do have AT Tii's in Japan, and possibly Canada/Australia. I actually wanted to convert my mom's Tii to AT, but she said she likes MT better due to gas mileage, and its more fun.

Anyways, yea a BOV is a good idea on your car.

The bov won't blow off between shifts on an auto tranny correct? I noticed on my friends volvo turbo that if he put his foot down even between shifts the boost needle stayed at a steady 12 psi without dropping like us MT guys' do. Is this the same on a rotary? If so a bov would suck on an AT.

The auto trans turbo cars do not loose boost between shifts, that is about the only thing they have going for them.

A BOV works exactly the same regardless of whether you have a manual or auto. It vents any time the manifold vac is high enough (i.e. the throttle is closed). Since you don't close the throttle during upshifts with an auto, it obviously won't open then. It'll open when you lift your foot off the gas.
