bouncy idle..

What is causing my idle to bounce? it goes from like 650-900 up and down, sometimes it doesn't and it just sits at 750 steady, then 650-900 up and down.. Sometimes after HARD driving, (gunning it through first and second) it won't stay alive, I have to hold gas a little for a bit until it will idle again..

I just rebuild the motor , I checked TPS and it seems ok..

Any ideas? Thanks guys..

Check your thermowax. It could be going south on you.

How did you check the TPS? It sounds like a definite TPS out of adjustment problem. It may be teetering right on the edge of being in adjustment. My car did the same thing until I got it tweaked just right. It took quite a bit of playing around with to get it just right. Do you have a test light?

Is your check engine light coming on at all?

I took my multimeter to my tps, and it moved pretty smoothly between 1k and 5k (I think it's 1k and 5k, the book said..) well according to the book it was in spec... but I am trying to find some more at junkyards.... nice to have extras =)

Thermowax... How can I check if it's that? Any other symptoms that would lead to the Thermowax ? how much does one cost?

Thank you guys!

My car has a similar problem....

After It's all warmed up and stuff, it'll ususally idle at 1500rpms....
However, then after idling for about 3 seconds, it starts reving to about 1750 then drops to 1300, back up to 1750, then drop, back up...etc... you get the idea, it's bouncing
HOWEVER, if it is doing this and i give it a QUICK little rev to like 2500-3000 it'll drop all the way to 750 and stay there. Or if i put it in 5th gear and hold teh brake as i let the clutch out, it will slowly go down (duh) and i go back in neutral at 750, and it;ll stay there.... weird huh
DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT COULD BE WRONG??!!

PLEAS HELP!
thanx

dre_2ooo, you might want to check your AWS, sounds like it might be staying on. After the car warms up it doesn't work right if it stays on;

Sorry Green, I don't know about your problem
