Bought new Radiator. Have a few questions.

I just bought an AWR Radiator brand new, not from AWR but from someone on the forums.

Problem is..It didn't come with the radiator cap, and the stock radiator cap is too small. Also there is an open hole right under the cap opening for the overflow hose, but there isn't a nipple, its just threaded as if I were supposed to screw in a nipple.

So my question is, how do I know what radiator cap to use (size/PSI)? Also where do I find the nipple piece for the hose for the overflow tank?

Feedback?

Heres the radiator.. http://www.awrracing.com/pages/rx/7504.html

EDIT: Okay I found this http://www.awrracing.com/store/produ...roducts_id=252 but its for 21-25 PSI which is too high?

I read somewhere that if I'm on stock coolant seals I need to run under .9 Bar or else ill blow the seals eventually. 21 -25 is like twice the recommended? So yeah...

Most aftermarket radiators use the same size of rad cap (Griffin, Afco, ect).
Is your car an S4 or S5?
I have an S4 with an aftermarket rad. I put a 24lb replacement cap on it and just never hooked up a hose to the overflow. Since the stock cap for the S4 is on the thermostat neck, I left the OEM 14lb cap in place and ran it to the original overflow. Since the original cap opens at 14 and the new cap opens at 24, the system never gets high enough for the 24lb cap to open. Ive been running the car like this 6 months or so and its worked fine.

use the stock .9 bar cap. what size is the overflow outlet? 3/8npt? get a fitting that same size with a barb fitting on the other end and run it to your overflow bottle.

I have an S5 so I only have one radiator cap. And the stock 0.9 Bar Radiator cap is to small to fit on the AWR Radiator.

Also where the hell do I get barb screw thingy? Any way to measure the size? its about 1/4 INCH in diameter.

Thanks for fast replys.

Any of these radiator caps should fit.

Unless you really want to raise the operating pressure of your coolant system, just run a higher than stock cap and use the original overflow.

Wait...I do not want to raise the operating pressure of my coolant system. I want it to stay the same. So im looking for a 0.9 Bar cap that fits the now larger radiator cap opening. Make sense? Also I'm going to use the stock hose, but I need a nipple for it.

Thanks for fast reply again =]

What

Also when I do figure out the bung size, where do I buy it?

EDIT: Turbo II Rotor - see above, mentioned AWR Radiator Cap is too high of a pressure. I think. Or so I've read.

For the summitracing the threading is 1/4 inch correct? I have a hard time understanding the product description.

I see in your sig that you have an S5. The stuff I was explaining earlier was referring to an S4 retaining the stock cap on the thermostat neck.
Sorry for the confusion.
