Bought my first RX-7

Hi all!

I bought few weeks ago my first RX-7. It's a -87 Turbo II with 147000kms behind and still going strong. I have changed all the fluids and thermostat beacuse it was jammed open . I read at this forum about bad solder joints, which I also had and I resoldered the "idiot" cluster and CPU.

I have couple pictures at irc-galleria: http://irc-galleria.net/view.php?nic...ge_id=67647231

It came from Germany so it still has those german "moving plates" or what they are called...

So far I have been very impressed with my new car, especially it's handling. This winter, perhaps, I am going to rebuild the engine and fabricate a new downpipe and exhaust system. Perhaps some other mods too.

Thanks, so we are in this together When I resolder something I always add some new solder so that the joint will heat properly and evenly. My light were all out. When I turned the ignition on, no light would light up. Also you should resolder the CPU unit. Some of the idiot lights come from there too.

Thanks!

This is not my first experience with RX:s. Lately I have had a chance to build a FD for my friend and FB for another one. I was quite sceptical at first towards wankel, but it kind of a grew in me , so finally I HAD to get a RX-7 . My RX-7 was in quite a good condition, except those outer window seals were rusty and some bumps and few scuffs around. This winter I am going to sort those out and perhaps change the colour to something better(white?). And the interior is going to get some colour changes too...

Eple, that's correct, only England and Ireland are RHD in europe.

Yup I resoldered the dummy lights and cpu and all works fine the only thing is the speaker in the cpu is like blown or something. It didnt work untill i resoldered it and now its real faint and crackly. Im just going to solder in a computer bios speaker since its the same thing. It might be a different tone but I dont care I wouldnt go white..... Im changing my color to like gloss black or Metallic baby blue.
