bought my first rotary

Any way I just wanted to say hi to all you. You have all conviced me that the rotary is a good choice. I have made my first purchase of one today for 600$ its an 87 gxl and its white. The body is in mint condition but the engine runs off of one rotor, smokes alot, and was flooded when I got there. I am probably going to purchace a new motor from Mazda in the near futur. Any way just wanted to say Hi.

good luck with your engine dude.

Prepare yourself for when it is done you are going to have a lot of mustang owners pissed off at you for beating them with "what car is that" and "it is a V8 right?" just laugh at them and run for the car if they are bigger than you you know they wont keep up after you get in the car.

All my mustang buddies where down when i told them i boght a rotary but they knew my obsession . I also own a 93 nissan sentra that is up for sale right now to pay for the new engine . the 7 is going to be my new driver car. it wont be modified for about 2 years its going to stay stock and just drive me from point a to point b. I love the car and its nice looking and if i put a new engine in it i thinnk it would have no problem getting me from a to b reliably.

You should rebuild the current motor yourself. It really isn't that difficult.... and it would certainly be cheaper. There is a guy on this forum who builds motors for people too..... good prices, and I haven't heard any negative Feedback. I forget his name..... something like Hypnytize... anyways he should pop up any time now.

I'm terrible when it comes to accepting bad stuff. I have seen a rotary running off one rotor due to a burnt injector harness. I don't remember extra smoke though.

A compression check will tell you one way or the other. I guess I'm just saying that before you get a new engine, make double sure that it's not just something funky going on. Rotaries will do all sorts of weird stuff.

Welcome to the world of rotaries.

Same thing happened to me after my rebuild. I ran 500 miles on 1 rotor. It was a jacked up injector harness that lead to the front rotor not getting any gas. Got a new injector harness and problem solved.

Well thanks for all the input with everything. I have never taken apart a rotary before so i am not sure i should attempt this. I have many experince with Piston engines and there recipricating motion . About the one rotor this and the injector harness did your cars smoke alot too like ALOT or not more than usally? THANKS
