my ASE mechanic buddy and I are going to test the alternator, the BAC valve and a few other things to correct the idle. Its' actually not that bad - I'm just OCD about my car. It's much more noticeable when I have load on the motor during idle, like I said above, so the BAC valve is looking more and more likely.

will do. and the starter has gotta go. it hear it click (the piece going into the motor) but nothing happens. then most times it will crank it. what suks is rx7;s like to flood so having a starter thats a sissy doesnt help the matter.

is the starter hard to get to on an n/a vert? 88?

maybe its the solinoid but i was just gonna replacer the whole thing - becasue the solinoid would be included right?

loking under my hood - noticed my 80amp MAIN fuse is black, and not gold like the others. I'm going to replace that too and maybe it will help.

if you ever need parts call apex auto 888-868-3550, there located in oklahoma city. ask for jeff he sells the rx7 parts if they dont have it they can get it. i have been a customer of his sicne i swapped my gtu in 08. i got an engine from them about a month ago it was an na s5 650 shipped and had 110 compression on both rotors
as for a starter you can get one from any s4 and it will work

found the problem. after looking it over - no rotors arent carbon locked...LOL

I have a fuel leak on the Fuel Damper. it frips fuel right off the tip. i attached pics of it - it the orange thing. the idle is messed up becasue the BAC valve is adjusting the idle like it should - but the car is starved for fuel anyway. lame. but i know the solution now. I need to find a Fuel Damper now.

solutions ftw!

It is very common and it can cause a nice fire. The part can be expensive from an auto parts store. I have a slightly used one I can sell you if you like.

It's an easy install.

Use a wrench to loosen the old one.

Reuse the washer and put the new one on.

Removing the UIM is alot to remember. I did it without marking the vacuum lines but that's a bad idea most of the time.

It should be pretty straight forward once you get started but take a look at the thread in my sig and just let me know any questions you do have.

Send me a pm and we can work out payment.

You just have to remove the UIM.

There are a few bolts and vacuum hoses but it's no big deal. You might need a new gasket and if you do have problems, just take a picture.

I'll be glad to help.

Responded.

I'd probably just get the set. Intake gasket set. They'll probably have to order it so you may as well get them both.

So i went to NAPA today, and the part is $3, the gasket. however - they called it a plenum and they has an upper and lower. i ordered the upper cause it was the only one they could get. the lower is some kind of special order.

Is that the right one?

LOL - and the fuel filter was $6

I was reading the Mazda service manual and something I noticed was adjusting compression figures for your elevation - im at 7000 feet, in the mountains.
