Bottom Shifter boot, please read

Question Bottom Shifter boot, please read

Right now, i am doing some major work on the car...i noticed when i took the whole shifter assembly out, that the bottom shifter boot, which the 3 retaining screws connect to, is broken could i get some from my local Napa auto store? Or is it even a big deal, and i dont even need to replace it Please guys, this is pretty ugent. Thanks

well if i were u i would call mazda trix and find out from them........but if i were u i would replace it just to be on the safe side....and NAPA wouldn't have it cause rx-7 parts aren't always the same........

The one that acutally holds the shifter to the trans?

I'd replace that, its only about 20 bucks, and it will keep your trans from puking gear oil out through the shifter hole.

couldn't i just wrap some duct tape around it ? :P yeah, the one that attaches to the top of the tranny. Damn, i wonder how long it would take to get here

Call Mazdatrix and get a new one. It'll stop the leak (which tape won't) and it also stops the hot air from under the car. My shifter is much cooler since I changed mine.
