Borla Exhaust? Is it worth it?
Borla Exhaust? Is it worth it?
I was just on the Borla site, and the site requred me to put the make model and year of my car. Then, the site came up with the exaust set up for my car. Is anyone familiar with the T-304 Cat-Back system side round angle cut intercoled tips with split rear tip exits. All for $776.99, would this be a good investiment? Does Borla make good exaust systems? Also, since the rx's are dual exaust, would I have to buy 2 systems?
Thank You.
Thank You.
I have this system and I would say that it is nice. It comes with a Y pipe and 2 mufflers, so only one kit. The price can be improved on though I think, I paid something like $415 shipped, but this was 11/99. I have seen them for $525 recently though. For a nearly stock look and stock fitment, I can't complain. Plus is knocked about 25lbs off over the stock parts. Noise is up, but not very much.
For comparison, my 1993 Honda Civic has a DC Sports which was a polished system, and very nice looking--Almost a shame to put such pipes on the bottom of a car. Sound is very loud, almost out of place on this car. It doesn't have any other mods, the stock exhaust was rusted out, and I wanted a stainless alternative that I could do myself.
I also have a Gibson Side Swept on our 2000 F150. It is a lower grade stainless, and after 1 year (granted through 1 winter also) it looks like crap. Enough for me to send them a complaint. My neighbor did a Borla on his 2000 Tundra-- I wish I woulda done Borla on the F150-- I still may this winter.
Borla doesn't get a lot of hype on this forum, and I honestly have not heard other exhausts to compare this to except for a full RB hearder system on a 1981 RX7, and a Mind Train system on my 1982 RX7, but they are both long gone. I think they were a bit more noisy, not objectionable though.
Good Luck,
Greg O.

Borla exhaust...
I like the Borla products..I had an 84 RX-7 with a Borla muffler and it sounded great with an hi-flo cat. The preivous muffler I had on that car was a DynoMax that lasted about 1 year. With all the heat the rotary generates, the Borla exhaust endures it. Plus, it has a million mile gurantee. Where I work, they also use Borla mufflers on their cars (UPS). I want to put a Borla system on my 87 RX-7, but the local muffler shop wants 600.00 the last time I checked with him. So the price you got quoted might be a little high..Good Luck and enjoy..

Hey Guys,
I hate to even admit this but I bought my Borla from www.jcwhitney.com. Right now they are listed at $523 + shipping. I got mine for $392 + free shipping!
It took about a week to get to my place and it was pretty straight forward to install, except for those damn rubber rings!
It's a great exhaust, sounds good. I think the reason they don't have much of a following here on the forum is that most people don't like the restricted flow they give. Its only like 2.25 in, I think?

Thank You, and how is the overall sound quality, do they have that low import sound, or do they still sound stock. Also, did any of you experience a hp gain if so around how much?
