Exclamation Boost sensor pellet - too small for 4mm hose

So I put some of my spiffy new silicone vacuum hose into my NA s4. I replaced the boost sensor line with 4mm, but at the time didn't realize that there was supposed to be a pellet in there...

I was later told about it, and I fished the pellet out of the old line and put it into the new line, on the sensor end, while the car was running. It sat there for a few seconds and then FOOSH disappeared down the hose.

My heart stopped.

I shut the car down and felt along the hose. The pellet had stopped at the nipple going into the motor. :phew:

So what I'd like to know is how (un)common larger pellet sizes are. I'm worried that the one I have now might eventually be inhaled.

Couldn't say. The idle was misbehaving the last few days, so I checked the TPS when I got home from work. It was at .7 Oops.

I talked to my mechanic a little while ago. He suggested carefully using a plastic tie wrap on the hose to keep the pellet in place...

given it wouldnt be nearly as rough if it was a piece of cast iron getting into the intake, it just a piece of plastic, but still
