Boost question
People with 3inch turbo-back exhausts with a 3inch cat... And have done the TID mod with cone-type filter.
How much boost do you see in 1st gear? 2nd Gear? 3rd Gear? How many RPMs does it take to go from "just-into-boost" till full-boost in each gear?
Reason I am asking is because I was wondering if my cat is really that restrictive. The cat I'm running is the really cheap Carsound 3inch cat. I never get over 6lbs boost by ~3300rpm in 1st gear... 7-8lbs by 3300rpm in 2nd gear till redline... On warmer nights, I only get about 8.5 lbs boost by 3300 rpm till redline in 3rd. On colder nights, boost in 3rd will be at 8.5lbs until around 5-6000rpm before climbing t about 9.5lbs.
BTW, this is on a S5... streetported running a T04b hybrid .60comp A/R. Wastegate is not ported.
I get the feeling that my cat is really holding up the turbo. The thing is, I really like that I'm not boosting above 10lbs... But I would kill for much quicker boost response. I know that if I gut the cat, the boost will come on harder and quicker, but I don't want to boost over ~12lbs. :/
