Boost problem
Ive got a 90 TII with the following:
-Apexi Power Intake
-Custom 3" full exhaust no cats
-Mechanical boost guage
That's about all that would deal with boost.
It doesn't run the full 8 lbs of boost its supposed to.Something electric must be messed up.
In 1st it runs to 5.5lbs
In 2nd it runs to 5.5lbs
In 3rd it runs to like 6 lbs and stays
In 4th on the freeway it goes immediately to like 7.5 lbs and stays there, doesn't creep.
In 5th maybe like 6.5 or 7 lbs again (I haven't had it at like 6k in 5th gear though).
Anyone know why it runs immediately up to 7.5 in 4th,but won't do that in any other gear at all? It's stopping right at 5.5 lbs before, where the wastegate is mechanically sprung. It's really really odd...and I don't think it's creeping which is odd.

It's normal.
Turbo boost is dependent on engine load.
With the higher (numerically) gearing in 1st and 2nd, there's not enough engine load, so you get lower boost.
You should be able to get max boost in 3rd though...

your wastegate must be ported AND your stock boost controller must not be working.
with 3" exhuast and intake you should be hitting 10psi no problem.
and stock boost is 8psi with the stock controller. 5.5 with it disconnected or broken.
