boost pressure senser not attached?/does it matter?

I have an 88 TII which used to be my brothers. When he had it he attached an hks tachometer to the vaccum line runnning to the boost pressure sensor, so basically my pressure sensor is probably detecting zero boost all of the time. A dude from Rotary Performance recently told me my engine would blow without it attached, but my brother hooked up that tachometer a long time ago and no problems yet. Does it matter if the vaccum line is not attached to the pressure sensor?

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! attach it now!!!!!! you will blow the motor!!!!!!!!

get a "T" fitting to hook the gauge up. which would be a "boost gauge" not a tach.

sorry guys

Trust me fellas, if I would have known the importance of having it attached I would have. I have the utmost respect for my car, I just didn't know any better. Anyway, thanks for setting my *** straight. Just a couple of questions though. Could you describe the "T" fitting for me a little and where I can get one. Is it simply a splitter that splits the vaccum line into two lines, and if so, wouldn't a "T" fitting cause the pressure sensor to sense less vaccum, considering that the line has been split into two? I hope what I said just made sense. Thanks

You can buy a t fitting at Pep Boys in the "Help" section. It's just a plastic tube shaped like the letter T.
