Boost: On, off, then back on!

So, I drove my car the other night... And decided to do a decent pull in third gear. I could feel the turbo kick in... The boost was strong, then completely cut out, and then came back just as strong... Almost as if it were like an "ON/OFF" switch. I don't have PSI numbers, as I wasn't payng any attention to boost... I know I didn't go over 5,500 RPMs, though. Maybe I will do this to see if it does it again, and this time pay attention to the boost.

Any ideas?

Any noise associated with it? Happen around 3800 rpms? a wideband and boost gauge would really help things.

Not 3,800 RPMs... It was more like ~5,000 RPMs when it cut out. And I agree with the wideband and boost gauge. The only noise, other than the exhaust and engine, was the turbo spooling... Turbo gone... Then spooling again, a bit louder.

it's either boost cut or a fuel system issue.
