Boost gauge (factory) not working...

Hi, the boost gauge on my cluster has not been working since I bought the car. Did not have it fixed since I installed an aftermarket gauge that looks much better and higher resolution.

Is the function of the pressure sensor on S5 only serve the purpose for fuel cut when high boost detected and signal to the factory boost gauge? What if my pressure sensor is stuffed.. will that have any other adverse effect on my car?

Now I'm actually thinking of getting it fixed but what could be the common culprit causing this? I've checked all the connectors and everything seems clean and fine but have not done any continuity or resistance test yet.

Anyone faced the same problem before and mind sharing ur rectification work to save my time diagnosting?? THanks.

I'd check out the pressure sensor. Vac line hooked up to it and all?

No, it also acts as a secondary load sensor and is reposible for retarding timing as boost increases. It's important that it's working right.

It could be the sensor, the gauge, or the wiring inbetween. You can test the sensor as per the FSM instructions. Preferably get a reading at the ECU so that you know it's getting the right signal. If that checks out okay then you're sweet. The gauge doesn't need to be working.
