boost gauge

on my 1988 turboII, the boost gauge turns on when i turn the key, but it doesn't read the boost How do I hook it up?

Aftermarket? stock? What do you mean it turns on? You mean it gets power? The light turns on if it's aftermarket? More info needed.

Whenever the turbo cars are started, the boost sensor needle should "pop" up.. then once the car is started, it should bury again, until boost is achieved.

Assuming we're talking about the stock boost gauge, if it sits at zero with the ignition on but never moves from there then the vac line has probably fallen off at the sensor or manifold, or the hose has split.
