boost controller not working right. help:)

So i bought a cheapo manual boost controller. It seems the stock wastegate nomally starts to open at -1 or -2 psi and then fully by 5.5 psi. When I set the boost controller to the lowest setting, 0, i see boost levels up to 14psi.

its supposed to adjust 1-30psi

It also is getting ridiculous 3800 hesitation and turbo lag.full boost around 4500-5k rpm anyone with the same issue. im thinking about trading my F-con for a safc to overcome the lag and hestitation

The stock wastegate starts to open once you get into positive pressure, and is fully open at 5.5psi. That ebay boost controller looks like a ball-and-spring type, so my guess is it has the wrong spring in it. If there is too much tension, it will take a lot more pressure to force it open than you intend, which could result in the wastegate seeing no pressure at all until something like the 14psi you're seeing.

Here's the parts list for my DIY boost controller from McMaster-Carr (www.mcmaster.com). This guy has a writeup similar to what I used. http://www.gusmahon.org/html/boostcontrol.htm.

1. Relief valve: 48935K25, Brass, 0-20psi, 1/4" NPT $8
2. Barbed 90* fitting: 44555K142, Brass $2
3. 3x Male Fittings: 5346k51, Brass, 1/4" NPT 5 for $8
4. 2x Barbed Tees: 44555K138, Brass, 1/4" NPT $6
5. Check valve: 7775K62, Brass, 1/4" NPT $14
6. 12x Hose clamps: 5388K16, 7/16"- 25/32" 10 for $5
7. Push lock hose: 1/4" ID, 6 feet long $1.25 per ft.

The main "boost controller" is the relief valve, one 1/4" NPT fitting & the 90* barbed fitting. It's cheap, wasn't made in China, and is rated for high temperature and very high pressures.

I bought a brand new Turboxs SBC, I think its the biggest POS i was having the same problem ....i would zero it and set it all up exactly like the instructions said numerous time, on my hybrid, luckily i had fuel commin out my *** or else i would have blown my motor i was trying to go from 13psi-15psi (13psi actuator) and "without adding boost" it would jump to over 18psi before i could let off , after a couple days of screwing with it, i got it to basically give me a surge to 15psi then drop to the 13psi....anyways anyone wanna buy a slightly used Turboxs boost controller i still have the box hahahaha
my WG actuator is adjustable , i didnt know that at the time when i bought the boost controller, im just gonna tighten that up the extra 1/4" left i think it should put me around 14.2 psi, and stiffen up the WG till i get an AEM tru boost

EBC FTW!

some boost controllers when installed backward wont function properly and essentially dont allow the wastegate to open at all.

check your routing.

and fyi i recommend the hallman for MBC.

that's funny, the TurboXS mbc I used at one point was worse than the home depot one I had. it spiked bad no matter how I adjusted it, and I know I had it hooked up right.
