Boost Controller Help

http://www.rx7store.net/product_p/sbcid.htm

That is the boost controller which I have I was just wondering what gain setting (boost response) people are using under the boost settings for there car?

It seems to me no matter what my boost is set to its only wanting to boost up to around 6-7 psi...

If you have not opened up the exhaust, you are going to have a hard time making more then stock boost. Keep in mind that if you are on the stock S4 turbo, the wastegate is very small and will cause boost creep when you try to increase it. The solution is to port the wastegate.

sounds like my setup except mine's an S5
with an e-Manage, 720cc primaries and secondaries, denso 310 fuel pump, and RB 3" catback ^_^

i can run just under 1 bar of boost (i think like 10 - 12 PSi) on the stock turbo.

Not sure if my Boost gauge is just out of whack but that's what it reads....

when the tube isnt connected everything runs perfectly fine and I boost perfect only thing screwed up is my idle because its causing a vac leak of course when its unplugged... I want to kno if I can just take the tube off and block the hole up??? .. . . And it would help if anyone knew exactly what that solenoid/tube did....so I can make sure in doing that im not messing anything up.

Unplug that and youve effectively disabled your wastegate.

Not familiar with this MBC, but it seems to me that it may not be hooked up correctly, or set properly. If it will boost with the WG disconnected, then there is no problem with the boost the car makes. The only item that was added was the MBC and now, no boost above 6/7 lbs.

Seems simple enough to me.

You are running off the wastegate spring when you are seeing 6ish.

Unplug the hose and you disble your wastegate.

Your manual boost controler is

^ i dont understand you 100%...? are you saying that it would b alright to keep that hose unplugged.....? I was just making runs down my street to test my boost and its peaking at 7.0lbs...when the boost is set to 12...but when that tube is unplugged it boosts perfectly like it should.

My laptop dies while I was posting that today.

Your boost controller acts basically as controlled vacuum leak.

You DO NOT want to run around with the hose off.

Not familiar with your boost controller but on my AVC-R you can monitor the solenoid duty and see it opening and closing the valve.

You likely either have a malfunctioning solenoid, boost sensor (for the controller) or a wrong setting on your controller. What pressure is the contoller seeing?

Im so happy that im not the only person having this problem. Im using the AVC-R and i am having the same deal. everything seems to be working fine, all starts ok, displays fine and all the sensors are reading the corect figures. But im only getting 6 or 7 psi when ive got it set to give me 14psi. ive tried turning the duty right up and right down but it makes no difference. But if i turn the setting up to 28psi it will shoot to 11psi and then drop to a steady 9. I have no idea what to do now

Did you find the problem?

Caosseven, how do you monitor the solenoid duty?

My AVC-R works fine. That guy was havng trouble with a different boost controller.

On the On the AVC-R, it measures in Bar, not PSI so you will have to convert it manually if you want to work in PSI.

If you are trying to get 28 PSI out of the stock turbo - good luck. Its just not going to happen. There is only so much you are going to get out of the stocker especially of your exhaust and intake aren't opened up. The true benefit to any electronic boost controler is that you can get peak boost faster.

As far as monitoring solenoid duty - it is one of the parameters you can set. Read the manual.

I'd recommend downloading the manual from Apexi. Read about the proper way to monitor and the way to set your boost and duty cycle.

i know its not measured in psi, i was just saying that because thats what cls6888 was talking in. I've git it set to 1 bar but im only making 0.56. ive just been reading about setting the TPS sensor, it should go from 0-5v but on WOT its only reading 4v... could this be why the solenoid int activating?
