NJ bonez test pipe vs rb headers

any opinoin on which is better? i need to pass inspection and i have a clogged cat. i think i might buy the stock cats and i need a cat back as well so im gonna buy a set. but i see the bonez test pipe that u bolt up to the stock manifold for 150, and im wondering how it holds up agaisnt the racing beat headers. because after i pass inspection i wanna replace the cats with eaither the headers and the bonez high flow or just get the test pipe cat replacement.

Have you looked at the stock manifold? It looks like a giant brick. The exhaust hits the wall of the manifold before going out.

A RB header takes the exhaust gas and guides it out smoothly.... There is no comparison besides noise (the stock being quieter).

no test pipe unless racing, or autox, or whatever. the test pipe goes in place of the cat.

youll be pleased with rb headers and bonez high flow cat. a test pipe in an na usually makes you lose power cause you need that back pressure also it will be extremely loud without a cat.

You do not need backpressure. You do not want backpressure. Repeat that 10x
That myth has been debunked a long time ago. A test pipe will not make you lose power; if anything you will see some gains because of how restricting the cats are (especially the junk stock cats).

ah alright i was just reading about that back pressure myth about an hour ago.

so opinion changed get a test pipe or a bonez high flow whichever is in your budget range, only problem you cannot pass emissions with a test pipe for obvious reasons.

I'm not even going to push this argument any further other than the following:

Go to a dyno or a track (remote back-road or parking lot, whatever) and run your car from a dead stop... Check the time it takes to get to, say 60 or 80mph.

Then, go and take your car's exhaust and remove everything from inline your exhaust gas' path of travel (install long racing headers, dump the cat, replace with jumper pipe, and run NO muffler)...

Run again.

Check the numbers and THEN say that you don't need back-pressure.
