Bonez Cat Systems - Good?

Are the Bonez Superflo street exhaust systems good in the sense that they are fairly priced and worth it? I need to replace my exhaust system (its in horrible condition) and must remain emissions compliant. I haven't dealt with exhausts before, but I haven't seen many companies offering converter pipes like the Bonez systems.

Does anybody know what kind of performance boost I might get? Will it at least be noticeable? This would be in comparison to a (failing and rusted out) stock system on an '89 convertible.

I also need a Y-pipe. I don't have tons of money. Are there decent cheap Y-pipes, or must I spend >$100 on a piece of steel?

Thanks much, you guys rock!!

I have a 90 vert. I put an HKS catback on it. I noticed some improvement in power. Later I added the Bonez superlfo cat system on it and realized a much better improvement. Throttle response is much crisper and the car it quicker. Worth it to me. It's a little louder than just the HKS alone. But not real bad. I don't have to pass emissions so I can't tell you first hand about that. But I have read where other people did pass with this system installed.

E-X-C-E-L-L-E-N-T bought the whole system (the turbo flow and catback). I LOVE the sound. It will include the
Y-pipe, catback, cat and presilencer, and you have to buy the gasket kit ($35). If you need a good system (also great quality nothing has even pretended to rust, although be careful not to scratch the paint on the catback because it's kinda thin). You WILL notice the gain easily.

KiyoKix, where did you buy the system, and for how much?

Cool... I know what I'm getting for my baby next...

Maybe I should save up for an intake mod too... while I'm at it... and get my FI's cleaned... and new spark plugs and wirez... they all need replacing. I might have a totally different beast by then! hehe...

I don't know if I can afford the HKS system... those run about 800-900 last I checked... I can do maybe $500 total on the whole exhaust... doesn't include the other "fun stuff" I mentioned.

I had the superflow converter system, the quality is top-notch, and it fit good. Sound levels rose slightly, but nice and deep, and the gains were fairly noticable. I give them a

If you have an automatic be absolutely sure the one they sent you will fit. There have been multiple cases of people getting the wrong one and it just doesn't clear the transmission.

I found my HKS cat back system for $580 shipped about a year ago. I don't remember where but they were running a special. Just do some searches for it and a bunch of places will come up. Then do some comparing.
As for ignition wires, I go the racing beat ones. They are expensive though. $100 bucks a set. I use a K&N filter in the stock box. Don't get a header unless you can live with a lot more noise.

The noise with a header isnt all that bad, only rose slightly, but more "raspy" at some rpms... Although I am running a high-flow cat instead of a midpipe, so that may account for some of the noise reduction.

Apparently, you can just get the cat and the mufflers and an exhaust shop can make the Y-pipe and stuff. I've read some posts where the end result was very nice and quite a bit less expensive.

I dont' think I can run the Bonez w/a header too, can I? I would be surprised if that all fit correctly. Anyway, I have the 5-speed manual so I'll just get that pipe. And I'll check out some shops around here. Hopefully I won't have to do the mufflers too... but I probably should. *sigh*...

I'm gonna go look for good prices (and another job!!) ... hehe...

No, the bonez cat "sytems' wont bolt up to a header, youd just have to get the main cat, then probably have to weld some extensions and flanges on it. The Bonez systems bolt from the exhaust manifold to the Y-pipe.

I bought everything from RX7.com (http://www.rx7.com), it all costs a decent price, but it's very worth it!

Bönez 2.5" SuperFlo System (5-speed only) $315
Bolt and Gasket Kit (for EX800625/6, EX800523) $20
RP 50mm Performance Cat-Back $395

$730 all together, I don't remember how much I spent for shipping (when I ordered it, my total cost was almost $2000, but I had much more than that...that doesn't count all the stuff that I bought from MazdaTrix).

The best aspect of the whole system is that it's WAY better than stock, but isn't flashy so you can stomp people and they'll never know what hit them.
