I have a stock 1990 T2 that to be honist needs a set of Tips, I have noticed when i give it some stick and let off there is quite alot of Blue smoke for 1 second max then clears, i am thinking along the line of the Turbo is on its way out but could it be somthing like the Oil control rings?

Any Idears.

ARE you SURE that it is blue and not black!!!!!...black indicates richness or carbon which mine tends to blow out at alot of driving around 5.5k. I always on the stock system made sure that the car ran around 3k. Redlineing isn't as good as everyone says, however, running the car at 3k all the time prevents carbon build up.

Blue is usually oil/carbon, is it not? If that's the case, try running some MMO through your engine
that should take care of it

UM.... driving around 3k is not good. You should take it up to at least 5-6 once per trip. Remeber, at 3k your engine is only spinning at 1k
