blue ignition wire getting hot

Question blue ignition wire getting hot

So heres the problem. A while back i would notice some smoke coming up from under my steering wheel. i didnt give much thought to it thinking that my oil line is a little big an i get som blow by. N it was coming up through my shifter hole. So i upgraded my oil line to the right size and still seen the smoke. as i got a closer look, the tape around the wire on my ignition were i spliced my turbo timer into was getting way major hot. like hot to touch an smoking. so i took the tape off an put a better connector, on the wire connecting the power wire of the turbo timer to the blue wire on my key.

I started driving it around today an the same thing happened started getting hot an smoking. the odd thing is the wire doesnt show any signs of burning or melting. but the connecter gets super hot the metal of it. when i touch the wire its warm but not as hot as the connector. the only thing i can think of is the metal is melting the tape. i think the blue wire is the acc. does anyone have any idea what it might be.

The BLUE wire on the ignition switch is indeed ACC related.

IT feeds the ACC buss in the interior fuse box. The fuses in the interior fuse box on the ACC buss DO NOT feed the Blue wire.

The BLUE wire is fed by two items. Either by the MAIN FUSE or by the alternator if the alternator is putting out.

I'd uninstall whatever you installed and then see if the BLUE wire is getting hot or not. If it is now cold, then something is odd about what you installed.

well i did the ford tempo alternator. should i upgrade my main fuse sence the alternator is a 100amp. il check the turbo timer an see if maybe theres a short in it or something. would putting a fuse inbetween the turbo timer an the acc wire help.

The alternator isn't the problem imho.

I would put a fuse in between the blue wire and the timer. But that said, I'd still disconnect the wire to the timer and see if the blue wire acts the same or not.
