Blown Turbo
Today I went and bought some fuel injector cleaner, because my car has been running rough, and filled up with gas and put in the cleaner. Then I went out and put some high RMP's on the car and she got really warm, but she still ran fine. So I was taking it easy lettin her cool down and i got into traffic. Then I went around a U turn and accelerated hard and the boost gauge barely moved and the car made this loud grinding/ humming noise. It was fine under high RMP, but once I had slowed down in the traffic and then a few minutes later accelerated, then it started. It doesnt sound good at all. I have recently had an oil change, and the oil level is fine. Post any thoughts.
Before thinking "blown turbo"..maybe go check the turbo? Remove you're coupler from the turbo cold-side, and look at it. See if any of the blades are gone / chipped like hell. Then, grab the middle of the turbo, and see if it can move, and if the blades can touch the sides of the turbo housing.
mine was very worn out with 160K on it,
made the humming and sounded like a fire engine siren, and i had the oil all over the cold side also!
yeah check shaft play and see how well it spins...

It was dumping oil and making the siren noise so i went to mazda and they dont even want to work on it (I went to mazda because it was having other problems to, normally I wouldnt have) so im sending it to this guy that races Rx-7's.
How much is it to rebuild a turbo?

www.turbosdirect.com
Email them and say RCCAZ or AZRX7 sent you.
They are a local builder here in Phoenix but he does rebuild for very cheap on our. $200 range
He's a Garrett authorized dealer and a great guy.
Now as long as everythign has usable parts it should be a stright forward rebuild.
I'm local but they rebuilt mine over a a weekend. Dropped it off Friday morning and got it monday morning.
If you do send it to them and they find something wrong I can try and help you out with sourcing local turbo parts for a quicker build. I've got a S5 cartridge but no useable hotsides and one compressor cover from an S5.
