Blown Motor- What should I do next??

Yellow people! I have an 87 gxl n/a and I had a coolant seal go out on me :-(

I pulled this motor out and sat it on the side this past sunday and Im in the process of installing another motor- (out of an 88, non turbo as well)

Im fairly new when it comes to owning a rotary (last july is when I got this car) and I already knew what i was getting myself into when purchasing this car. All my friends are honda owners/tuners and told me to get a honda cuz rx7z are slow when your not a millionaire! But I still got it anyways!

Should I take apart the blown motor and send my housings to get ported?
Who should I send it to?

Mazdatrix charges 350 bucks for streetporting a 6-port n/a motor!

Racing beat charges 400 bucks without a resurface...

I dont know about anyone else? Any suggestions on who I could send my housing to, so i can get em streetported AND is not too expensive?

My goal: is to basically beat some of my friends b18 integras and b16 civics or give them a challenge so I can prove them wrong, while staying N/A!

I hope to hear back from you people- Thanks, Prodigy!

First of all, IMMEDIATELY take apart the motor with the blown coolant seal. If you don't do that it will rust and destroy all of the parts.

Now that that is out of the way, I would get the housings ported. If the engine is apart you should always get it ported since it is one of the biggest ways to increase power on an NA, and you will kick yourself later if you don't.

As for beating your friends cars, I Don't know what they run, but its a bad idea to build a car to beat someone since you could very well be disappointed. On street tires and a stock EMS system, mid 14's is the most you can realistically hope for, and you might not even get that.

Sideways~ thanks man! I hear ya when you tell me its not a good idea to build a car to beat someone, but you can kind of understand what I mean about at least giving them a challenge- mostly all of my friends just did a simple motor swap thats it!

But I want to at least experience a nice pulling n/a rx7! :-)

If you get a good streetport and an aftermarket exhaust then you can get a pretty fast car. You can also swap on the intake manifold from an s5 NA. It will net you 10-15 hp up top, but its a bit of work.

And I have no experience with either racing beat or mazdatrix's porting. I have heard that Mazdatrix's is a bit conservative, but I have no actual proof of that. Pineapple also has does porting, but not sure on the cost or if they even do it to engines they aren't rebuilding.
