hey a_drift your car was converted from an automatic to a manual right?
i was wondering which method you decided to go with when making the custom tranny mount.

because i was reading and theres arguments about how some design wont be able to handle hard driving and such.
and you drift your car, so whatever method you used seems to be working just fine.

Alright guys and girls, nothing has happened to the car. School is my numero uno priority. I'm halfway through my first quarter at UC Irvine and it's rough. Girls are too much of a distraction. Matter of fact I'm at a girl's place now Dammit! Well, that's besides the point lol.

I'm writing an update to show ya a vid from the last event I went to at thunderhill raceway. The event is Thunderdrift. Check out thunderdrift.org (I think that's it) or norcaldrift.org. The man who put the event together and vid is Geoff. Cool guy and very chill laid back environment. I loved it! ENJOY!

Again not really an update but for the interested, I made a vid from the day after thanksgiving buttonwillow event. No footage of me since I was the camera man, and I blew my tires after the first session lol. But check it out and enjoy

Christmas 07' UPDATE! :D

haha yea I've been behind on my car, not much happens, BUT I did get a nice hook up from my good friend JunPower (look him up if you don't know him).
Ok so as you guys know I've been riding on the worst suspension, cut springs and nothing more. Well, Jun hooked me up with some Ground Control coilover springs and a GC rear camber bar as well. *I've been needing to get rid of some of that ugly enormous rear camber. He also hooked it up with three nice tires, 2 bridgestones, and one dunlop but I'm going to buy a matching for the dunlop. I also swapped the tranny cause mine was just terrible. I could hardly find gears when on the track cause of all the grinding gears lol.

Here's some pics:

The tiny garage space in my mom's new place. Junk everywhere! lol

The tires and suspension going in, I didn't use those shocks they were just attached to the springs.

My lazy helper:

The tranny clean and I just sprayed with some grey paint laying around.

My helper getting in the way!

Just a quick pic of the fronts installed:

Now about the suspension, here are my plans.
First of the front springs are way too tall, they're 7" springs all around. The guy who installed them on one of JunPower's cars I think just threw something together without knowing what he was doing. The rates on the springs are 350lb in front and 300lb in the rear.

My plan: I want to get 5" springs with a 400-450lb range for the front, and run the 350lb springs in the back. When I can eventually afford it I'd like to run some adjutable shocks, agx or illuminas. Also some camber or camber/caster plates for the front, whatever I can afford. This will be the closest things to a coilover set up I'll see for a long time. As I'm now transferring to UCLA and student loans are going to start piling up. If I can't get the 5" springs then I'm going to search for some 6" with some kind of decent spring rate. I think Kungfuroy or something like that has a pair of 6" for the front used but the rates are only like 330 or something. If he sells em to me I might just do it for now to get me by. I mean I've been on cut springs for over a year now, how worse can it get lol.
I'm also painting the car flat black. The purple was cool for the track and driving cross country, but now I just get way too much attention. So, I'm slowing going to start painting it flat black.

There you have it, there is my update. I'll post more pics when I get more work done to it. Happy holidays everyone!

Update Dec 28th 07'

Ok I made my drive back to southern cali so I can pack my junk out of irvine and find a place to move into in LA near UCLA. I took some pics of the car driving down through the tehachapi mountains. It's such a nice drive through there. I'm sorry for the crappy camera phone pics, it's all I had. Oh yea I painted the car flat blk the purple was just too much right now, and it was too bright. Great for the track though cause I always had tons of folks going WTF!? lol

What's your rear camber set at? Keep up the good work! Maybe I'll see your car around in SoCal.

You know, I don't why I painted the rims red, jus another scheme to stand out really. I do miss the polish look but they do look pretty crazy when clean. The car is really dirty right now, so yea. But it works when I'm at the track, I get plenty of looks. I'll have some sick crazy rims on there for ya RRTEC, I was gonna take the red paint off but ran out of time.

As for my rear camber I'm not sure what it's set at right now I need to take it for an actual alignment, but if I had to guess it's at -1 degrees I think. I want something around that for now and start drifting like that to see how I like it. Before the car was slammed and had tons of rear camber. But yea thanks guys.

Don't typically want a lot of neg camber in the rear since it's N/A. Other than that ... you're such an inspiration...

Yes that's true since there is less traction but I'm going to start high and then start lowering the camber based on how it feels. The way I drive I need traction though cause I jus fly into the turns as fast as possible. So, that grip is needed to slow me down so I don't spin out or slap a wall.

Thanks for the words guys! Hopefully I'll see some of ya around town or at events one day.

Damn I just realized it has been a long time since I posted on here....sorry to give up any hopes to anyone who actually thought I have a legit update. For the record this car might be getting garaged this summer up to the time I graduate. Which won't be for another year and a half at the least. There is no time and money for the car right now, but there is no way in hell I'm selling it!

AmviciousRav: Irvine isn't so bad I was only there for one quarter though because I was accepted into UCLA for the winter quarter, and well I LOVE UCLA!! The school is so nice!

I'm hoping to buy parts along my college adventure, but being a mechanical engineering student doesn't leave you with a lot of time. Well, it then comes down to: "Go out with the pretty ladies?" or "buy some oil and parts for my car?" Right now the ladies win. I can't help it....and being without a car has led to a random addiction to salsa dancing...gotta do something else with my spare time, plus ladies love it! Alright peace!

What have I been doing? Besides not replying to my own thread a month late lol. Well, as you probly notice I didn't go to sevenstock this year. I'm just way too busy out here in LA. I'm getting my car smog legal right now. If you have a split air pipe....can I have it!?!?!? PM me! I bought a bonez high flow! I'm excited to get my car smog legal again and stop smelling like exhaust when I drive it.

I went to a drift event in september and my car started to overheat. I got some cooling isssues. I think the system is clogged cause when I drove it cross country we had to put some stop leak in it which worked great, but now I think it's hurting the car. So, in a couple months I'm gonna buy a new radiator. Maybe a koyo or fluidyne. Not sure yet, just cause. I still need to finish the suspension. I need shorter coils for the front springs. Like 6 inch ground controls....maybe 5 actually.

Aside from that...not much action. UCLA is freaking crazy. So far I'm involved in too much crap.
1) Board member for Latin American Student Association
2) I'm on a Salsa team for LASA
3) Gen Member of to more groups SHPE and SOLES
4) Working man....I work at 730am every mornin before class

I could keep going on. I live on campus from 730am-930pm Monday-Thurs, and leave at 5pm on fridays lol. But yea I'll shut up now. I had to get that out. I wanna go for a rotary meet or something!! Screw it let's drive!!

Smog Inspection!!! So I passed with flying colors, and I'd like to thank Rotary Performance for their bonez high flow cat. I wouldn't have been able to do it without them
