block heater sparks when i plugged it
ok, i tested out my block heater, i was weirded out it the *stems glows just before the engine block...anyways, my first try it worked just fine, it was smoking up due to some leakage on my power steering, and was finally burnt off..
next day, i plugged it again and sparked!...quickly unplugs it and check what was the cost!...found nothing...then i tried it again same thing!! sparked!!
help!
its getting colder and colder!

Check wiring all the way to the element. Chances are that the covering has deteriorated from time and chemicals causing the short. When you find the area cut just past there and replace the wiring. Also, if you use an extension cord, be certain it's good quality. If you use a long, or small gauge extension cord, there will be a voltage drop at the heater, causing it to draw more current. Voltage drop will cause the wiring to heat up,
i think..
i think its my leaking power steering that is causing the spark...the fluid would crawl down to where the block heater connector is and creat a short circuit..i tried clean'n the darn thing (male and female connector) but it would still spark!..
any suggestions??
