Blitz BOV question... ViDeO LiNkS InSiDe...

I just got my Blitz DD yesterday after lots of research and video clips of people with it. it sounds just like many of the cars on Best motoring video and D1 videos the bouncing sound like this: http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...701&q=blitz+ss

but i got this: http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...99881489&q=bov

I don't have that horn i guess that the old one, but any ways that the sound i got. (please dont come up with those Performance>rice coments, i just need info) i wonder if there is an other adapter, i haven't try the filter or maybe even flipping the horn upside down. Note I seen pictures of the dude installing the Bov in the car in he first video so its not like i got the wrong one.

sounds like the first one is "bouncing" like it might be under more pressure. Maybe theres some springs or bushings they have that you don't?

that car its running 9 psi... blitz does offer a stiffer spring but i don't see a reason for him to use it, plus i try ajusting my all the way... didnt do anything just just go off under more boost like it should. and if you look to the right on the google video page you will see more videos of the car and it goes off the same at very low psi.

Here's the problem.
That first video is a good example of how NOT to run a BOV.
That warbling turkey sound?
It's called compressor surge.
Sure it sounds cool, but you're actually destrying your turbo.

That second video is how a BOV is supposed to sound.
It's supposed to be smooth and continuous.

So if you want to just kill your turbo, just crank the adjustment bolt / nut all the way so it's tighter.
This is how you get the fluttering sound like the first video.

Sorry to tell you but i don't think its compressor surge. (how come many of D1 cars sound like that, done by sick tuners)

I got a little theory: what about if the vacuum source its the one that determines the intermitent bouncing. meaning that the vacuum pulls and releases constantly making the piston of the bov flatter.

And sorry to tell you that many of them run their BOV's tight to get better response.
Also, many of the run BB turbos, which help combat damage by compressor surge.
Most of the D1 cars don't give a crap if they kill their turbos after one round, cause it's called SPONSORSHIP.

Please do your research before you put your foot in your mouth.

Going to have to go with RETed on this. I wanted the flutter sound and actually had a chat with one of the Formula Drift guys driving a 240 on how they do it. They don't run blow off valves that's how =). And there, I let the secret out for everyone to know. If you want it to sound exactly like the drift cars, try no blow off.

Easy test...
Pull the BOV vacuum line and see if you get the SAME SOUND.

Ted is 100% right, bro....you want the BOV to release a continuous flow of pressure...

btw your also comparing a 2jz engine to a rotary engine, of course there is going to be a sound differential. that engine is pushing a lot more air through regardless of the various psi (when comparing to the rx7).

so that right there is a component of differing soudns as well

dont forget it sounds TIGHT!!1!one!! All thosel ittle ricers love it

Why would normal operation EVER have an uneven release of pressure? IT wouldnt, so therefor that first sound isnt normal... just like Ted said

I had no BOV for 1 month.. last dumb owner had not even the stock bypass on. (i got turbo upgrade) IT DIDN"T SOUND LIKE THAT. didn't sound at all.

(dont forget it sounds TIGHT!!1!one!! All thosel ittle ricers love it...) didn't i wrote not to post this stupid coments ???

22,000 post inspire subliminal flame. (he doesn't know what he talk about, even though should pick his world a little better) and there comes a whole line of the infamous clueless post battle unit!!..

anyways, i see alot of threads of people trying to choose a bov (mainly because of sound preference) i was after that also... but... it can't be done with out being pointed as a ricer.

Im not against BOV and the sounds, I love the sound of an HKS or Blitz, but not to the point that Ill hender the performance of the BOV by making it do **** it shouldnt to improve the sound.
