White smoke is usually coolant or flood(running really rich) IIRC. Blue is oil. I *think.* Don't know what the 'shinny' stuff is, though.

Hope that helps some.

would running rich also be a reason for popping when decelerating with out brakes? and also coolant usually disapates quickly this stuff lingers for a while...

the popping is called backfire.

its excess fuel in ur exhaust pipes burning up in the pipes.

Yeah, running rich is what causes the popping, known as afterburn.

Basically, it's unburnt fuel in your exhaust. The extreme heat of the rotary engine will cause that fuel to catch fire, making it pop. Or, if you have a straight exhaust, it can make flames come out. Heh.

It's not going to hurt your engine any, other that running rich uses up more gas than is needed.

As for the shiny stuff...uh I have no idea... if you have the original catalytic converter maybe little chunks of 15 year old cat are breaking off in the exhaust? Just a wild guess.

it could be aluminum from a housing, broken coolant jacket. to the point, if you see any "white smoke" it may be broke

the cats are ceramic or maybe even asbestos honeycomb (ever gutted one?)

also is this car a turbo or not? if it is check that turbo out.
The white smoke , anitfreeze, is comming from some where it shouldnt
