blew up motor looking for info

I am 99% sure she is blown and was wondering what a rebuild cost would be.
Its an 86 fc with a s5 turbo II
I have a guy that I race with at mosport who has a shop called can-saf and he said he could do it for $3000.00.
Does that sound within reason.
Thanks for the info.

3000.00 to rebuild the engine....

IMO if the rotors are in good shape and the irons and housings are good I think that may be a bit steep HOWEVER I have no experience in seding engines out to get built... I am building my own S5 T2 with 95% mazda oem parts and I half half that into my build..

3k?

jesus christ, you can pick up a running TII for less than that(there is a guy selling his TII right now for 2k). If the rebuild cost more than a replacement car, i would only assume it is too much. Honestly, how much could you buy a running motor for? or a working short block, swap all the accessories over and boom bada bing.

Ofcourse, i have no experience in this, so this is just my opinion and i may be wrong. I went the "easy" route and swapped in the V8.

for most motors the price avrages to around 500 dollars if u dont need rotor or housing replacment and then most guys who rebuild them charge about 500 in labor so u can get one rebuilt for around 1k..3k is more then double and it had better have machined titanium housing and irons and rotors for that price

3 k sounds about right for a rebuild with a quality company. Streetported with a replacement housing cause yours are most likely no good.

Are you retarded??? The rebuild kit is 1100 by itself, the labor round a grand with streetporting, so 2200 to 3000 depending on comapny is about right.

Look into Bdc or rotary resurrection for a rebuild at a good price! Bdc is in texas and kevin is in tennessee.

a decent rebuild will cost you about $1k in parts, another $1k in labor. $3k is too steep.. walk away

protge garage does a basic for about 2300 + shipping. the shipping would almost me half of that i think. i have been told that they like to request extra work when they get your engine though. you could buy a jdm with about 50k miles for about 2000. that's still not new though.

3k is a bit steep, but not too bad if its a high-quality build with a good port job. It can be done for as little as 1k if all of the parts are reusable, but it sounds like your's won't be.

Nobody knows what that price includes. He could be getting a great deal, but you're all telling him that the guy is a snake.

The price could include removal and installation for all we know. He never said he was crating up the motor and sending it out.

Besides, 2 new rotor housings, new mazda seals/springs, and a new rotor and you're already over $2k.

Without knowing what he's going to do to it who knows. I'd say 2K at least for a "stock" rebuild and 3k for some extras done.

$850 for parts and $850 to $1500 on labour depending on the port work you want done. Have a peek at my site and you'll see the quality of my work. http://www.bdcmotorsports.com

You'll trust someone who presents themselves like he did with that much money?
