Blew my motor today!

yea like the title says, today was drving and the motor dies, the car starts but runs really shitty think i blew the rear, but will do a compression test tomorrow. thats not the f***ed up part..

So i called the tow company then and waited two hours for them to come. We got it home alright.....THEN as he was making a final right turn the lift got caught into my passenger fender and bent the **** out of it and my front bumper came off and headlight was sinked in !!!!!!! Im pretty pissed off now. now I gotta figure out to get the motor started to get to the body shop to get it fixed....F*** !!!

oh well now i can finally rebuild the thing and do the street port.

f*** i need a beer!

But you ARE getting money from those tow truck bastards, right? (I have a deep-rooted resentment to tow truck drivers).

Id make the tow company pay for it. Sounds like they damaged it.. why should your rates go up for their **** up?

I had a very small tip (back in the day before the 8" grapefruit shooters became popular) ground half off my bimmer because the dumbfuck lifted it so high in the front. I guess they didn't know what lowering springs did. AND... that was a tow to the impound lot because a ins proof ticket was never cleared (had ins at the time but not the card in the car) and I didn't get the revocation notice. I LOVE police. 185 bucks later I get my car back and still had to pay the 18.50 to get my license back.

Thats rough man, take a look at the towing company's rules and regulations and make sure they dont have something that sais "Not responsible for personal damage" then see what you can do

Angry

What a coincidence. I just lost all compression in my engine earlier this week. We thought it might just be a problem with the spark plugs or coil but to my dissatisfaction, it was not. I had a 1986 GXL which I loved. But I will admit that I am a little satisfied in the fact that I do not have to pour out large sums of cash to keep this car on the road anymore. I always said that as soon as I experienced any engine problems, that I would just get rid of the car and buy new. Well, that time has come. Another RX-7 going to the scrap heap! Actually, I am donating the car to charity because there is no way I will be able to sell it. At least I get the tax write off next year.

In case you are all wondering, I was going to stay with Mazda and go with either a Protege 5 or a new Mazda 6. But I thought it was time for a change considering my luck with Mazda has been far from enjoyable. You may blast me for this but I decided to go with a Honda. Yes, Honda. Its time that I finally got something with a good track record. I am sad to let go but at the same time this constant migrane that I have lived with for the last 3 years has all of a sudden gone away! HMMMMM! At least now I know what was causing it. I thought maybe it was my wife but she is still around and the car is not. LOL

Good luck to all of you with your RX-7's. I hope you fair out better than I did. Its a sweet car but you better have a deep pocket or know a cheap mechanic to keep these cars on the road.

If you own a 7, you need a daily driver. These cars are definately temermental at times. I love my Saturn. Good on gas, roomy, fun to drive, made of plastic (no door dings) and it is ugly as a dog's butt so I don't give a crap about it. I can't even turn my back on my '91 vert!

ok i might be grabbing a 90 block, will all the s4 counterparts bolt on the s5 bare block with no problems? like the s4 UIM, LIM, exhaust manifold etc..... I know i will have to swap in the s4 front plate on to the block also. should be easier that way right?

Odd. One RX-7 in BC dies the same day another roars to life.

Did you actually do the compression test?

7's not bad

I drove my 85 12a for 14 years and 215,000 miles--this was and is a great car--never, never any major problems. Keep up the maintenance.

Sold the 12a and recently bought an 84 GSL-SE--another excellent car--and hopefully soon a turbo FB.

I don't know about the FCs, but the FBs are great.

Hope this TII setup isn't as prone to problems.

Good Luck, Scott

nope not yet, havent had time since ive been running around out of work, and icbc claims etc.....will probably do it tomorrow, Im thinking its the rear rotor that has the blown a-seal because when i took out the plugs its pretty soaked. so i added some Atf in. see if i can get some compression tomorrow.

scathcart: you goin stock on your s4? and hows that nos kit coming along??
